Making the Measurements
Lots of women purchase bras of the size they think is nice for them to wear, rather than what fits their bodies. In most cases, it is usually a cup size that’s smaller than what they require.
To have an accurate size of the bra you need, it’s a must that you begin by taking measurements. Though remember that the measurement is merely the beginning of everything. Often the size you measure may slightly be different when fitting it, after putting it on. The difference is because various companies make items of different sizes for unique body shapes.
Band Circumference
Put your arms down. The measuring tape must be placed horizontally, and it should be pressed firmly against the body. You can do this on your own, but for accuracy purposes, you should find someone to do this for you.
Chest Circumference
Wear the bra that feels very comfortable, among those you have. Stretch the measuring tape horizontally passing over the point of furthest protrusion, that’s from the chest. But it should not press down on it.

Different countries will use differing systems for indicating cup sizes. If you consider purchasing the underwear from another country, use this size comparison to calculate yours.

Our weight will most likely change with time, though most of us want to buy the same bra size every time. Don’t stick to the same size all the time. Whenever your weight changes by 3 – 5 kilograms, it’s the high time you pick a different size, so redo your measurements.
Head to the store. Be aware that the process of trying a new bra until you find an ideal one may take up to an hour and a half.
How Do You Try on a Bra?
Both the band and chest circumference impact each other. Let’s say for example a size C with a circumference of 29.5 inches won’t be of the same size as a size C of circumference of 31.5 inches. Well, and how is this? The more the band circumference is, the wider the cup becomes, so it’s more spacious. Have this in mind while trying on a new pair of underwear.
Brace yourself to try at least 10 different bras made by more than two different companies. Look for classy designs whose cup is smooth. Choose the ones with comfortable material for your body. When you get the size that’s right for you, now try various designs.
Pick the two designs that come first, of the size you found after the measurements. Let’s say, 34A.
Those two models you’ll try need to have a smaller base band size, and larger cup size. So that means 32.
The third one needs to be of smaller base band size, so now 32A.
For the fourth one, the cup size should be larger, for example, 34B.
The last two need to have both the cup and baseband size larger, let’s say 36C.
All those you try must be assessed considering three factors: the cup, baseband and shoulder straps.
When trying a bra, the row of hooks farthest to the right must be connected. The baseband may stretch reaching 5 cm, and this varies according to the material. This time you’ll need the other rows of hooks.
How Should a Perfect Bra Look?
The Baseband
Most of the support by the bra is from the baseband and minimal from the straps. Therefore the baseband needs to reach around the rib cage at least firmly without getting into the skin. Place your arms up, and bend your spine from the left side to the right one. The baseband should be excellently positioned. The middle of the bra should be holding the rib cage firmly.
Ensure you can fit two fingers below the clasp. But if you can fit more fingers then the baseband will be riding upward after wearing the bra for only half an hour. Let it lie all horizontal across the chest. It’s very normal if it appears a bit tight the first time you try it on.
The Cups
When you can see folds in the cups, know that the bra is very big. Replace that one with the one whose cup size is smaller.
Ensure your bra does not squeeze your chest producing wrinkles close to your armpits, otherwise, that’s very small. Go for that one with a larger cup size.
The greater part covering the surface area of your bones need to be lying around the edges of the bra. If the bra covers the bones partly, you require a larger sized bra.
The Straps
A bra should support and raise your bust upwards. There’s an effective yet super simple way to determine whether the bra you have is of rightful size. Search for the middle point, between your shoulder and elbow. That’s the place where your bra should protrude out the most, coming from your chest. Anytime it’s lower, far from this point, the straps need to be tightened. But they mustn’t cut into your shoulders as well as stretch the baseband.
Don’t allow excessive weight to fall on the bra straps. Consider lowering them a bit from the shoulder. At this point the cups might fall, the baseband must be positioned in the right place.
Ensure to check the length of the bra straps every day.
A final tip, the height of your bust need not be lower than the lower edge of the bra. A bra should always defy gravity.
A bra that fits well will give you a good appearance, maybe you’ll seem to have lost some weight.
